Soi 1 Backpackers hostel is perfect for anyone looking to have a good time in Bangkok - It's location is great, and the staff is excellent! Make sure to take Dave up on his '1st day in Bangkok' route - great way to get introduced to Bangkok!

The airline lost my bags on my arrival to Bangkok..i was angry to say the least but the hostel saved my holiday with its character, fun and the down to earth people who worked and stayed here..they let me use their phone for free to get my bags back! Stay here!, its as simple as that.

I arrived at 2am on a long haul from Sydney, Australia. Feeling a little worse for wear, and Dave and Noi made me feel right at home. Nai made me a perfect little soup for my fragile stomach and they were really friendly (despite dave looking like he hadn't slept for 2 days!) I have met some great people here and It will be my only choice of hostel when I return to Thailand. many thanks to Nai, Dave and all the other staff for an excellent stay.

Great Hostel, Dave, who runs the place, is a really well informed and engaging host. As far as i can tell the man never sleeps and is always hanging around waiting to help you plan a trip, give advice on things to see, and tell you the quickest and cheapest way to see the city. A perfect place to stay for a few days immediately on your arrival, as he will help you get a grasp of the local area and way around the city. Good accommodations, clean, reasonably priced.

Rooms and toilets are clean. The manager, Dave, is an affable fellow. Incredible value for money considering its location -- near skytrain, in a quiet lane of the commercial district, with a 24-hour convenience store next door. Better than any of the khao san hellholes. Recommended.

I ended up in Thailand for a few days because of a mixup in flights -- and Soi1 completely changed the experience from a hassle to an adventure. Not only were the staff friendly and helpful, the other guests were quick to include me and made sure I got to see as much as Bangkok as possible in 2 days. I hadn't planned on my visit, but after my experience with Soi1, you can bet I'll be back. All the reviews I read before booking were accurate -- this place was great!!

I stayed there for 1 day in Dec. 07 and 4 days Jan. 08. This is the best hostel I have stayed in if not the best. The owner Dave is an amazing Australia dude who's cool and chill about everything. Dave is extremely knowledgeable on Thailand in terms of where to visit and how to get there. You can pretty much get on a plane, get to this hostel and plan everything right then and there. The common room has maps and timetables for trains and buses as well as activities written up so you know where to go.

I arrived in Bangkok, my first destination on my round the world trip, a woman, alone and kinda freaked out! I arrived at Soi 1 and immediately met a bunch of really cool people, checked in and was on my way! Soi 1 is a great place to come to. It is clean, the staff is excellent, and the common room allows you to meet people staying there. I advice given by Dave was wonderful and all the information posted around was extremely helpful. If you are a first-time traveller, or want a safe and comfortable place to stop in Bangkok, Soi 1 is a great place to go!

Very nice hostel; I had the best time there! It is indeed very clean and the staff is very friendly. It was easy to meet people and the location in perfect; close to the skytrain and not as busy as Khao San Road. Will definitely get back here on my next visit to Bangkok.

The hostel was very very clean! The staff were friendly and there was always someone at the front desk ensuring that only hostel guests were going into the rooms. The location was great - within a 5 minute walk of the Sky Train and 15 - 20 minute walk to Siam Paragon. I stayed in the female only dorm and didn't have any problems. Great place to meet fellow travelers. I would definitely stay here again!

Really laid back guesthouse run by extremely kind and helpful owner/staff. The aircon was amazing and the rooms and bathrooms were kept clean.

i loved this hostel! The staff were so friendly! I met loads of cool people. The common room is great to chill. Location was great,2 mins from Skytrain,plenty to do but not chaotic like Kao San road, you dont get harassed by tuk-tuk and taxi drivers every 5 steps! Dave had plenty of advice to have a great time in Thailand.Jimbo was also a great part of the hostel(one of the employees)made me feel really relaxed straight away.very clean,the beds are comfy+food is great too! My stay was fab!

Hard to fault, from the clean and air-con dorms to the excellent lounge area and helpful staff. All in a great hostel and your only ever a step away from a good night out. Local knowledge on hand to assist you in whatever you need, go on try it you might like it :O)

This is a great place to go if you have never been to Bangkok before. Dave really helps with great tips and the rooms/showers and so clean and neat. Can't go wrong with this place, air con, hot showers and sat. t.v. It was just what I needed to relax a bit.

This hostel is amazing. The staff make it such a friendly place to be. The common room is like your own living room at home. It's so easy to make friends. This was the 1st hostel I stayed at on my 2 month trip, and I already know the others won't even be able to compare!

This hostel is fantastic! I stayed here for a week and had to drag myself away from it. It's in a great location. It's very easy to meet otehr travellers here but isn't overwhelming like some parts of Bangkok. Amazing staff- Dave and Jimbo do everything that to help you out. Stay here! Cat xxx

This is the hostel to stay at in Bangkok! Extremely helpful staff in an excellent location(transportation by skytrain or canal boat are very close), with a great selection of bars and restuarants nearby to hang with others from the hostel. Very clean AND IT\'S CHEAP!! Need I say more?

Great location, all kinds of shops and food nearby, cool staff, good clean facilities and a great atmosphere made by people all enjoying themselves, in all, excellent. Recommend Dave's weekly night out for a walk on the wild side..
